The Hidden Layers of the Human Psyche: A Journey into the Unknown
Share
Art often emerges from the depths of our inner world, a reflection of thoughts and feelings we can’t always articulate. My recent painting, The Hidden Layers of the Psyche, was born from a moment of meditation and introspection—a journey into the murky yet serene waters of my mind.
The Creative Process
This piece began as an exploration of the unknown. During a meditation, I asked myself where my art was heading, as the path felt unclear. What followed was a vision: a vast, misty lake, its depths both mysterious and calming. The painting reflects that vision—a mix of murky greens and subtle layers that invite the viewer to pause and reflect.
I experimented with texture and layering to mimic the complexity of the psyche. The underlayers hold darker tones, while lighter washes bring balance and airiness to the surface.
Balancing Tension and Serenity
Balance and tension are recurring themes in my life and art. This painting embodies that duality—its darker tones represent the weight of introspection, while the lighter washes bring a sense of calm and hope.

What’s Next?
This painting feels like the beginning of something larger. I envision creating a much bigger piece with similar depth and atmosphere, allowing me to fully immerse myself in this theme. However, at the same time, I do not feel ready. That might sound odd, but at the moment I'm focussed on my "flow" paintings. These have a different feeling. Paintings such "The Hidden Layers" need a different approach, a different mindset.
The Hidden Layers of the Psyche is more than a painting; it’s a mirror of my own journey. I hope it resonates with those who view it, encouraging them to embrace their own layers, both dark and light.
