A part of my soul: A journey beneath the surface | fluid art

The fluid art collection: Part of my soul is one of the most personal and introspective series I’ve ever created. Over the course of a year, these pieces came to life organically, evolving through intimate conversations with myself. Each artwork feels like a layer of emotion, memory, and connection, holding a deeper story that invites you to look inward.

The Idea Behind the Collection

The inspiration for the Soul Collection wasn’t planned; it emerged from a desire to go deeper into my emotions. I wanted to create a small, cohesive collection that felt like being underwater—immersed in light, color, and fluidity. The delicate layers in each piece mimic the soft, shifting light you might find beneath the surface of the ocean, where every detail invites reflection.

My Creative Process

Before I begin a piece, I often meditate or journal on a specific subject. A favorite prompt of mine is: “If I were totally free, I would…” This simple question opens the door to a creative brain dump, revealing thoughts and emotions that guide my work.

When I start painting, I’m usually drawn to a single shade of color—a deep green or a vibrant blue reminiscent of the ocean viewed from above. These colors anchor the piece, grounding it in calmness and introspection.

I use techniques like soaking the canvas rather than painting directly on it. This “soak and stain” method allows the pigments to sink into the fabric, creating soft, fluid layers that feel alive.

Materials and Techniques

For this collection, I primarily worked with acrylics, water, acrylic ink, and Ecoline ink. These mediums allowed me to build light, transparent layers that evoke the feeling of water and depth. In one piece, I even incorporated thread and embroidery, adding a tactile, handmade element that feels deeply personal.

Some pieces, like Deep Ocean and Part of My Soul II and III, feature abstract marks and imagery inspired by the ocean. You might notice suggestions of a school of fish, a shell, or seaweed—symbols of the sea and its mysteries. Occasionally, an eye appears in my work, representing the third eye or an all-seeing protector of the soul and the sea.

What I Hope You’ll Feel

The Soul Collection is an invitation to pause and look inward. Each piece is like a quiet 1-on-1 conversation, encouraging you to explore your own emotions and memories. I hope these artworks offer a moment of silence and self-reflection, even if just for a minute.

Seeking Congruency

I see this collection resonating with those who value inner work, therapy, and meaningful connections—with themselves and others. These pieces are for anyone who seeks a sense of calm, depth, and intimacy in their surroundings.

I encourage you to get up close with these pieces. Study their layers, marks, and textures. Let your eyes wander across the canvas and notice the emotions that surface. These works are meant to be experienced slowly, offering new details and meanings each time you engage with them.

A Deeper Connection

The Soul Collection is unlike anything I’ve created before, and I will keep adding to it as the theme speaks to me continuously. It represents the parts of myself I’ve poured into each layer, and I hope it brings you closer to your own inner world.

Take a moment to explore the collection and find the piece that resonates with your soul.
